Polyurethane is described as a versatile polymer based on polyether and/or polyester polyols and modified aromatic diisocyanates. Applications include adhesive, encapsulant/potting, rigid foam, automobile and industrial uses.
One-component systems cure with atmospheric moisture. Two-component systems cure with a base catalyst as isocyanates react with hydroxyl groups. Published packing: 300–600 ml HDPE cartridges or aluminium sausage packs and 20 litre drums for 1K (store 20–30°C, shelf life 4–6 months); 1–200 litre tin or MS drums for 2K (shelf life 4–12 months). Safe to transport by road, air and sea.
