Coated abrasives are made by depositing grains on cloth, paper or fibre backing. Grain types listed include sintered aluminium oxide, silicon carbide, zircon, emery and flint. Grit sizes range from 12 to 2000. Backing is selected for the industry and application.
Grains are deposited on adhesive-rich backing to form jumbo rolls (up to 1,000 metres), then converted into sheets, belts, rolls, discs and flap wheels. Geometry follows the equipment used. Typical finishing uses include automobile, auto ancillaries, white goods, hand and power tools, sanitary ware, furniture, fabrication and construction.
